Welcome!

My academic career at the Art Institute of Tampa moves forward as the director for two design programs. I stay active in accreditation and program evaluation processes where it has been exciting to apply the learning and organizational theory taught in our CWE program.  I continue to be an instructor in design foundations and internship courses. These activities are being fully supported by my dissertation topic which is on the instructional application of situated learning theory.

In March I presented at the 25th National Conference on the Beginning Design Student hosted by the College of Art and Design at Louisiana State University.  The paper was titled Disciplines Forming Disciplines. It discusses the transfer of design foundations pedagogy to specific design disciplines. The paper was later published in the conference monograph.

Earlier in 2009 I was a panelist for the Sustainable Design Assessment Team (SDAT) interviewing process. This was a national team of experts who were rating and evaluating the sustainable quality of Tampa. My areas of expertise were educational institutions and sustainable community development. In 2008 I was a panelist for “Project Home” hosted by St. Petersburg College and the Florida International Museum. The topic was homelessness in the St. Petersburg community. I have submitted abstracts for 3 conferences in 2010. I encourage everyone to start the process of submitting abstracts to conferences and presenting to your peers.
